Tasracing has released their Animal Welfare Manual for greyhounds effective from 1 January 2013.
Included in the Animal Welfare Manual are the supporting documents ‘Information for anyone interested in Breeding a litter of Greyhounds”, “Management and Care for each stage in the lifecycle of a Greyhound” and “Recommended Standards for the Care of Greyhounds”.
The Animal Welfare Manual and all these supporting documents are available for collection at the raceday office of the Clubs or online at www.tas.racing.com.au .
To compliment the manual, Local Rule 36.2 has been amended by replacing the current rule with:
A person responsible for the keeping of greyhounds should comply with the requirements detailed in the Tasracing Greyhound Animal Welfare Manual.
Participants are urged to review the manual and the supporting documents to ensure they are aware of their obligations and responsibilities.
