GREYHOUND CODE FUNDING INCREASE

Thursday 18 September 2014

Tasracing is pleased to announce that greyhound racing has received an increase of $127,894 in funding for the 2014/15 season under the new Code Funding Allocation Model, which is 2.96% above the funding provided last season.

The greyhound code budget includes items relating to prizemoney, breeders rebates and payments, Greyhound Adoption Program and a provision for the 2018 nationals.

The Breeders Rebates and Payments include the Tasbred Bonus, Tasbred Juvenile Bonus, DNA Testing for Bitches and the Vaccination/Microchip/Rearing Rebate.

The increase will be passed onto participants with the retention of the current levels for all Breeders Rebates and Payments and a $90 per race increase to all graded events from 1 October 2014 as recommended by the Greyhound Reference Group.

In addition to the $90 per race, all distance races (700 metres or more) will also receive an additional funding boost of $300 in an endeavour to promote participation in distance racing.

The stakes funding contains provision for 70 additional races during the season as well as a minor increase in the consolations of the three Group Races, the Hobart Thousand, Launceston Cup and Devonport Cup.

In finalising the Stakes Grid for 2014/15, the stakes for fourth placing for graded events has also been increased to $75.
