New Mid Distance Series Announced

Monday 2 March 2015

The Launceston Greyhound Racing Club has announced a new mid distance race on the calendar this season.

The race, which resulted from a sponsorship by Clive Feltham who resides in England, will be known as the Dennis Thomas/Knockies Jet Memorial and will be conducted as a Free-to-All race over 600 metres on 27 April, 2015.

Clive is a relation of Dennis Thomas who was an owner in Tasmania in the 1960’s.  Clive holds the leases of four greyhound tracks in United Kingdom including Wimbledon, the number one track in the UK and home of the English Derby.   Knockies Jet won the Easter Cup at White City.

Due to the generous sponsorship received the race will carry a stake of $3,000 to the winner and a perpetual trophy.

The race is expected to remain a permanent fixture on the mid distance racing calendar for the Club.
