The process of linking skills and experience to licensing has been completed within the harness and thoroughbred code. Tasracing has consulted with industry to develop a process that aims to be straightforward and cost effective for all participants.

If you have prior experience working with greyhounds within the racing industry, you won’t need to attend any formal training.  You can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) through TasTAFE.

RPL is recognition of prior learning, and it is an assessment process that gathers evidence of skills and knowledge. Basically, it is a formal recognition of the things that you already know and can do.

You will be assessed by experienced Tasmanian greyhound participants, who are skilled in the assessment process. The assessment process will be conducted at a race meet or trial day/night and will be performed whilst you are performing your normal duties.

You will be contact by Tasracing via mail in regards to how to complete these assessments. Letters have already started to go out to participants starting with the catchers, followed by attendants and trainers later in the month.

This assessment process is a requirement for re-licensing and participants failing to register and complete this process will be ineligible for re-licensing for 2015/2016.
