THIS weekend four former Tasmanian thoroughbred racehorses will form part of a team that will represent Tasmania at the Equestrian Federation of Australia National Championships at the Victorian Equestrian Centre at Werribee.
Al’s Birthday, Count The Stars, March Fly and Pomp ‘N’ Pageantry will join riders Rhonda Hall and mother a daughter combination Melissa Sweeny and Shari Smith to pit their skills against the nation’s best in various categories.
The horses are a part of Tasmania’s Off the Track program with all but Al’s Birthday experienced campaigners at national level.
Tasracing TV’s Pete Staples caught up with the riders and three of the competing horses at Hall’s Equestrian pavilion at her 12 Oaks Thoroughbreds property at Campania last week while preparing for the national event.
Also attending the event will be the Tasmanian Racing Club’s Ambassador Alycia Hall who will participate in the fashions on the field special event under saddle.
