Tasmanian Local Rule Change as of 1 July 2015

Friday 10 July 2015

Tasracing would like to advise of a Local Rule change as of 1 July 2015, allowing for a horse to be a dual acceptor on a race program, provided that they are an emergency in their race of first preference. Previously this was allowed to occur only in feature races staked above $50k.

  • Currently local rule LR 10.4 is as follows; LR10.4. No horse shall be declared an acceptor for more than one race on any one day, with the exception of races conducted on King Island, unless declared as an emergency in a race with total prize money of $50,000 or more (excluding bonuses and trophies), in which case they can accept in one other race on the day.

  • The revised LR 10.4 would see the rule listed as below; LR10.4. No horse shall be declared an acceptor for more than one race on any one day, unless declared as an emergency in a race, in which case they can accept in one other race on the day and may start in either race.

The amendment is designed to ensure that a runner has every opportunity, to compete in its preferred event, whilst preserving the chance to compete on the day should it not be allowed its preferred option
