Policy Manual Amended

Thursday 14 January 2016

Tasracing has adopted a new policy and amended two existing policies effective from 1 February 2016.

The new Policy, which is titled “Veterinary Practice, Scientific Research and Education”, provides clear guidance on the use of GAP greyhounds for blood donation, blood and tissue collection and the donation of a terminal greyhound or the use of a greyhound carcass for scientific and/or educational purposes.

The amended policies are:

Additional Races Policy – amended to allow for the conduct of an additional race at meetings where Group Race finals are held and to specify no additional races at combined meetings.  While no additional races are able to be conducted at this time due to the stakes reset, the policy remains active should opportunities arise in the future.

Race Programing Policy – amended as follows:

  • to remove mid-distance races from the Grade 6 non-penalty heats
  • to restrict Masters races to Short Sprint and Sprint distances only
  • to provide for a Short Sprint race, subject to other races scheduled, at every meeting at Hobart and Launceston.

The Forthcoming Programmes for February, March and April 2016 have been approved in accordance with the amended Race Programming policy.
