CONOR CROOK has taken the early lead in the race for the Youngbloods Challenge title after the first two rounds of the series held in Devonport on Sunday afternoon.
Crook won the opening heat, scoring aboard the Kate MacLeod-trained Rattlenhum that led throughout and Taylor Ford snared maximum points in the second heat coming from last, a lap from home, to win aboard Ready to Fire for reigning premier trainer Ben Yole.
Charlie Castles is sitting in second place with 20 points after finishing second aboard Lead Singer in the first heat and his drive Little Bit of Big dead-heated for third in heat two.
Ford is in third place on 18 points going into the next round of heats (3 & 4) to be held in Hobart on Friday afternoon with the final round of heats to be run in Launceston a week later.
