2019 Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sale results

The 2019 Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sale held at Carrick in February will go down on record as one of the most successful in recent years.

Buyers took full advantage of a catalogue featuring the progeny of classic-winning and winning -producing dams as 11 yearlings went through the sales ring.

A Bettors Delight-Vernett colt offered by Melissa Maine topped the sale with Viv Clark successfully bidding $24,000.

Leigh Dornauf entered a filly by leading US import Sportswriter from the Village Jasper mare Mon Soie.

Leigh was rewarded with spirited bidding resulting in a successful $20,000 bid by the state’s leading trainer Ben Yole.

The filly is the first foal of Mon Soie which won seven races including the Belmont Stakes and accumulated in excess of $50,000 in stake earnings.

Craig Hayes was in the buying mood picking up the Four Starzzz Shark-Ima Merry Jasper filly offered by Shelley Barnes for $15,000.

The filly is a half-sister to Shelley’s top race mare Angel Or Demon (1.56.6), a winner of 10 races including the Matron Stakes, Mother Of Pearl and Coastal Pacing Thousand, with stake earnings of $55,000.

The selling percentage at the sale was in excess of 80% with only two lots passed in, total sales topped $87,000 with an average sale price per lot of $ 9,666.
