Return to Tasmanian racing given the go ahead

Tasracing is pleased to confirm that racing will return to Tasmania from Saturday 13 June.

The Return to Racing Plan, which was developed by Tasracing in close consultation with industry participants, has been a critical document in this process, and I would like to thank all those who were involved in its preparation.

Importantly, the plan contains a comprehensive set of controls for the resumption of racing in each code, including strict rules around the number of officials, trainers and handlers who can be in each section of the track on a race day.

We have seen strong industry interest and participation in the trials which I am sure will be replicated when racing formally resumes.

For the record, the first race meetings to be conducted in the state will be:

  • Thoroughbreds at Mowbray on Sunday, June 14
  • Harness at Elwick on the evening of Sunday, June 14
  • Greyhounds at Mowbray on the evening of Monday, 15 June
