Following the announcement that restrictions relating to the Covid-19 pandemic would be eased further from tomorrow (17 June), Tasracing has announced that field sizes for thoroughbred and harness meetings will return to normal.
Tasracing CEO Paul Eriksson said field sizes would no longer be restricted to 10 starters.
“Trial field sizes will also return to normal for all three codes,” he said.
Mr Eriksson said in addition, the guidelines for participants relating to travel to and from a race meeting or trial avoiding un-necessary toilet, food, petrol or other stops had also been relaxed.
The field size decision follows a successful return to racing across all three codes on Sunday and Monday after the industry was shut down because of the pandemic.
Mr Eriksson said it was another positive step forward for the industry after the weekend’s resumption of racing.
