The Tasmanian Breeders, Owners, Trainers and Reinsperson’s Association will conduct an online stallion tender to raise funds for promotional activities.
Services to three well performed colonial bred stallions have been generously donated by the mainland’s leading standardbred nurseries for the tender. One hundred percent of the money from the winning bids will go to Tasmanian BOTRA.
Breedings to Auckland Reactor (St Fort Stud, NSW), For A Reason (Cobbity Equine Farm, NSW) and Restrepo (Goodtime Lodge, Victoria) will go up for auction.
The advertised service fees for the three stallions are: Auckland Reactor ($3,000 inc. GST), For A Reason ($2,200 inc. GST) and Restrepo ($1,440 inc. GST).
Auckland Reactor, the former dual NZ Horse of the Year, won his 32 of his 53 starts – including 17 on end at one stage – and $1.8 million in stakes. At the stud he has sired more 190 individual winners in Australia, New Zealand and America including NZ 3YO of the Year Chase Auckland, the fastest Australian bred pacer ever Soho Burning Love (1:48.2), Red Reactor, Willie Go West and Reactor Now.
For A Reason, the richest Australian bred son of Art Major, won seven Group races including two Derbies, the Victoria Cup and Queensland Pacing Championship and $1.1 million. From only two commercial crops he has sired the winners of $2.1 million at an average of $24,000 per starter. For A Reason has sired both top colts and fillies.
Restrepo, the former Victorian ‘Cups King’, won Group or Listed races every year from two to six years. The Art Major horse has from limited opportunities at stud sired eight winners from nine starters from 13 foals of racing age. They include the SA Southern Cross winner Urbadboy and the metropolitan winners Sidstrepo, Misstrepo and Hes The Judge.
The tender will be held from 9:00 am on 6 September to 23 September 2021, with bids will closing at 9:00 pm EST.
Winning tenders will be notified via email and or phone prior to 5:00 pm 27 September 2021.
