Westbury horseman Leigh Dornauf will be the busiest person at Carrick Park trots on Saturday afternoon.

Not only is Leigh the chairman of the host club, but he is a vendor at the Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sale to be held at Carrick Park later in the day.

Dornauf and his wife Leanne, son Chris and daughter Jessica are offering a strongly built filly by leading US import Sportswriter from the Village Jasper mare Mon Soie as Lot 6.

The filly is bred on the identical cross as Our Uncle Sam, runner-up to Tiger Tara in this season’s Inter Dominion Grand Final and A. G. Hunter Cup. She also can boast a double strain of the blood of influential sire Jate Lobell.

Mon Soie, the dam of the filly, won seven races including the Belmont Stakes, earned $55,608 in stakes and took a mile record of 1:58.6 and was a very capable racemare.

This is her first foal.

The grand-dam Yeronga Twinkle, the dam of four winners, was a half-sister to the brilliant but ill-fated Astral Francais, whose 19 successes included the Vicbred 4YO Final, NSW Simpson Sprint and the Tasmanian Crystal Stakes and 4YO Championship.

Another half-sister, The Milky Way, won 10 races including a Victoria Oaks heat and at the stud left seven winners including a cups class pacer in Teo Enteo 1:51.7 ($404,538) and Shady Secret 1:52 (USA).

The filly traces back to Pride Of Lincoln, who founded one of the most successful 2:00 families in Australia and New Zealand today.
