Tasracing has reviewed the options to deliver a dedicated GAP facility and determined that the purchase of an existing kennel facility will deliver the quickest, functional and cost-effective outcome for a dedicated greyhound re-homing facility.
As such Tasracing will now proceed with a public EOI process to identify an appropriate facility for purchase.
It is expected that the process to prepare the EOI and underlying criteria will take a few weeks. The EOI will then be open for a month for submissions. Upon closing, the submissions will be reviewed against the criteria and a recommendation put forward to the Board for final approval.
Tasracing intend to have this finalised during September 2019.
The alternative option to build a facility at the Pontville location, whilst delivering the opportunity for a high class, new facility had become too costly and would require a further unacceptable time delay to complete and bring on line.
