NEW SOUTH WALES reinsman Todd McCarthy has taken out the 2018 Australian Drivers Championship at Globe Derby in South Australia.

The championships comprised eight heats last Saturday night with McCarthy emerging with 72 points to win by two points from Queensland’s Adam Sanderson with West Australian driver Chris Lewis third on 66 points.

Tasmania’s representatives Ricky Duggan and Todd Rattray didn’t fare well with the horse draws but both produced creditable performances with Duggan winning the last of eight heats aboard $5.40 chance Skippy Rascal as well as snaring two minor placings.

Rattray drew his share of rank outsiders but he still managed to grab two minor placings.

The ADC comprised two drivers from all states with McCarthy’s victory giving him the honour of winning the ADC and the Australasian Young Driver’s title in the same year.
