NEW DISTANCE SERIES ANNOUNCED

As part of the changes to the programming changes from 1 January 2016, a new series of distances races will be incorporated into the programmes.

A series will be held in January and March in Launceston and in February and April at Hobart.

Each series will be conducted as Free-to-All heats over the mid distance (599/600) with the first 5 in each heat qualifying for the final which will be conducted over the Distance (709/720) the following week.

The conditions of each series shall be as follows:

  • A free-to-all series to be conducted in Heats over 599/600 metres and a Final over 709/720 metres.
  • It is anticipated that 2 Heats will be conducted with the first four placegetters in each Heat qualifying for the Final.

A series will not be programmed in May with the Winter Distance Carnival commencing on 29 May 2016 with the Foley Perpetual Stakes at Launceston. The first of these new series is scheduled for 23 and 30 January at Launceston and Luxbet Racing Centre Series will now be conducted on 9 and 16 January to provide the opportunity for greyhounds to contest both series.
