Prominent Sassafras horsewoman and hobby breeder Shelley Barnes is breeding to sell.
And, Shelley’s single entry – Lot 4 in the Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sale – looks certain to attract plenty of interest among yearling prospectors
at Carrick Park on Saturday.
It is a well-grown filly by Lennytheshark’s sire, the Cam’s Card Shark horse Four Starzzz Shark, out of the unraced Village Jasper mare Ima Merry Jasper and from the maternal family of top Tassie pacers such as Claremont Boy, Lucky Atashy and Jive.
The filly ranks as a half-sister to the good racemare Angel Or Demon (1:56.6), a winner of 10 races including the Matron Stakes, Mother of Pearl and Coastal Pacing Thousand and $55,617 in stakes.
Furthermore, Ima Merry Jasper is a half-sister to Strezlecki Lady (1:57), the winner of the Shepparton Gold Cup, Tasmanian Pacing Mile and Geelong Winter Cup and $113,155 and rated one of the best racemares ever produced on the Apple Isle.
Other close relatives include the Tasmanian St Leger and Gloucester Park winner Strezlecki Warrior, Strezlecki Time (NTLHA Cup and St Marys Cup) and Strezlecki Wildone.
