Winter Distance Carnival Amendments 2019

Thursday 20 June 2019

Tasracing has adopted a recommendation of the Programming Sub Committee that the conditions of the CUB Winter Stakes be amended to the following to ensure, as far as possible, that the race will be conducted.

The CUB Winter Stakes is scheduled to be conducted with two heats on 1 July with the final on 8 July.

If there are 9 or more eligible first preference nominations, two heats will be conducted.

If heats are not conducted:

  • If there are 4 or more eligible nominations then a Free-to-All race over 720 will be conducted on the day of the heats consisting of those greyhounds.
  • If there are less than 4 eligible nominations, no race shall be conducted on the day of the heats and new nominations shall be called for the “Final only” and connections must re-nominate for the “Final only” with selection preference going to those greyhounds that had an eligible first preference nomination for the heats.
  • If there are four or more eligible first preference nominations for the heats, those greyhounds shall be deemed nominated for the “Final only”. If there are less than 7 eligible nominations then nominations will be extended until the time for the closing of nominations for the meeting at which the “Final only” is scheduled.  Selection preference will be given to those greyhounds that had an eligible first preference nomination for the heats.
  • If there are 7 or 8 eligible first preference nominations for the heats, then those greyhounds shall be deemed nominated for and form the field for the “Final only”.
  • The “Final only” will be conducted provided there are 4 or more nominations.

In respect to the State National Distance Series, heats will not be conducted on 1 August 2019 unless there are 9 or more eligible nominations.

A Free-to-All over 720 metres will be conducted on 1 August 2019 provided there are four or more nominations.

The State National Distance Championship will be conducted on 8 August 2019 provided there are four or more eligible nominations.

If there are less than four eligible nominations for the State National Distance Championship, then no race will be conducted and the Launceston Greyhound Racing Club shall select a greyhound from the nominations received to participate in the Grand Final to be conducted at Cannington on 24 August 2019.

If there are no eligible nominations received for the State National Distance Championship then the Launceston Greyhound Racing Club shall select a greyhound, which meets the selection criteria of the series, to participate in the Grand Final.

The minimum nominations policy will be reviewed after the National Series has concluded as to any permanent changes to the policy for distance races.
