Martin Wallace, a highly experienced and respected public servant has been appointed to the Board of Tasracing.
He brings more than 30 years experience in public administration, business and financial management, and has extensive regulatory policy experience. Martin also brings senior executive experience in the energy and telecommunications sectors.
Mr Wallace is a former Secretary of the Department of Treasury and Finance in Tasmania.
Mr Wallace has been a long term participant in the racing industry in Tasmania, both as an owner of horses and as a hobby breeder.
Mr Wallace was appointed at the 2020 Tasracing Annual General Meeting on 18 November 2020 replacing Danny McCarthy who has retired after 10 years on the Board. Tasracing thanks Mr McCarthy for his extensive contributions to the Board and commitment to the Tasmanian racing industry.
The Tasmanian racing industry injects around $103 million a year into the Tasmanian economy and involves more than 5,500 Tasmanians as either employees or participants.
Tasracing is committed to providing leadership to the industry and ensuring its ongoing financial sustainability.
Mr Wallace brings his business acumen to the company at a time when focusing on growth in commercial revenue is vital.
