A brother to last year’s top Tasmanian juvenile Written In Silk brought the top price of $36,000 at the Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sale at Carrick Park on Saturday (February 13).
The colt, by Sportswriter from the Belmont winner Mon Soie, was consigned by Westbury couple Leigh and Leanne Dornauf and knocked down to Brighton horseman Adrian Duggan and his wife, Amanda.
The highest priced filly was the Sweet Lou-Huiffier filly offered by Melissa Maine, of Faithful Park stud, Latrobe, which sold for $25,000. She was one of four yearlings purchased by Pipers River trainer Marc Butler.
A Hes Watching gelding out of the Bettor’s Delight mare Itz Gemmas Delight, also consigned by Melissa Maine, realised $24,000.
A Betting Line half-sister to the Breeders Crown heat winner Tisu Spirit, offered by Melissa’s mother, Susan Maine, was knocked to premier trainer Ben Yole for $20,000.
The sale grossed $162,000 for eight head sold at an average price of $20,250.
