Following cancellation of Saturday’s Thoroughbred meeting due to the southern Tasmanian snap Covid lockdown, Tasracing investigated opportunities to provide southern participants with a race meeting this week.
Tasracing took an optimistic view that southern Tasmania would be out of snap lockdown as at Monday evening and thankfully this proved correct. Participants and guests are advised that face masks must be worn at all times at the meeting.
Tasracing is pleased to confirm a broadcast slot has been secured for this Thursday 21 October, and that the cancelled meeting will be run on that day. Tasracing has secured Sky 1 broadcast for the first four races, and of course live free coverage of the entire meeting on TasracingTV.
The meeting will call for new nominations this morning (Monday 18 October, closing at 4pm this afternoon with acceptances at 9am tomorrow (Tuesday 19 October).
Tasracing is confident that racing on Thursday will have no negative impact on the Friday night Launceston thoroughbred meeting.
Tasracing thanks all participants and the Tasmanian racing club for their cooperation and understanding. Tasracing is looking forward to working with the club and participants to make the most of the opportunity presented by a public holiday race meeting.
