The 2023 Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sales held Carrick Cup day on Sunday 12 March provided an outstanding result.
Total sales topped $289,000 with an average sales price of $16,056, which was consistent with 2022 results. The clearance rate at the sales was 69%.
26 of the 29 catalogued yearlings went through the sales ring, the highest number since the recommencement of live sales in 2018.
Two horses topped the $40,000 sales mark and a record sales price was set.
A Lather Up – Huiffier Gelding offered by Melissa Maine topped the sales with Don Hassell and Scott Jackman bidding a record price of $44,000.
A Stay Hungry – Ashuras Beau Colt, entered by Brooke Hammond, caught the eye of Summit Bloodstock/Aaron Bain Racing who bid $41,000.
