Tasracing has today announced the drivers for the 2023 Cavalor Claiming Novice Drivers series, which will be conducted in Hobart on Brighton Cup night, Sunday, 23 April.
The series, which sees 10 of the state’s best up-and-coming drivers participate in the four-race series, determines the overall winner by points accumulated in heats.
Drivers selected for this year’s series, as per Tasracing policy, are; Charlie Castkes, Brodie Davis, Jacob Duggan, Mitch Ford, Tiarna Ford, Malcom Jones, Hannah Van Dongen, Jack Watson, Jakob White and Kayleb Williams.
Lachlan Dakin will be the emergency for the series.
The Cavalor Equicare Claiming Novice Drivers Series was introduced onto the Tasmanian racing calendar in 2012 to give further opportunities to young participants commencing their journey into the harness racing industry.
Tasracing CEO, Andrew Jenkins, said “With the support of Cavalor, the Novice Driver Series is a terrific concept and an important one that provides opportunities for drivers on their way up.”
Trainers and owners are reminded that all heats of the Cavalor Equicare Claiming Novice Drivers Series are national rating exempt for the winner, with horses rated between 30 to 69 catered for under the various conditions across the four heats.
