Tasracing has successfully completed the value management phase of the North West Tracks project leading to an endorsement to proceed. During the value management phase it became apparent that, in the current market, the complete design package exceeded the funding for the project. Tasracing is committed to the project and intends to proceed in stages beginning with the critical infrastructure requirements that will enable racing. Tasracing will then continue to develop the site in order to achieve the industry vision for the precinct as future funding opportunities arise.
The project team is continuing to collaborate with industry experts along with Tasmanian leaders in engineering, architecture, town planning and construction to successfully complete the Development Application process with Latrobe Council. In parallel with works required to successfully complete the Development Application process the project team is continuing the detailed design of the tracks and supporting infrastructure, the development of construction packages and obtaining all regulatory approvals to enable construction to begin.
The project team will meet next week to begin the next stage and anticipates being in a position to advise critical timelines in the near future.
