Thoroughbred Race Dates 2024-25
Thoroughbred race dates for the 2024-25 season will remain largely the same as the 2023-24 season. There will be 73 thoroughbred race meetings across the state including 7 on King Island between late November and January which is the same number as last season.
There will be thirteen Friday night meetings at Launceston during the night racing season which is an increase from eight in 2023-24. A new Friday night slot will take place on Friday, February 21 where the Tasmanian Turf Club will run their Tasmanian Oaks meeting.
The Tasmanian Turf Club will host one additional meeting to give them 26 for the season including the traditional New Years Day meeting at Longford. 21 of these meetings will be run at night split between Wednesday and Friday nights. The $125,000 3YO Cup and $150,000 Newmarket Handicap will once again be run on the same night on Wednesday, November 27 in what will kickstart the Ladbrokes Tasmanian Summer Racing Festival.
The Tasmanian Racing Club will again host 24 meetings for the season. The Tasmanian Derby/Hobart Cup meetings will once again be held over the Regatta Day long weekend. The gap between the Hobart and Launceston Cups will remain at 17 days which will give horses every opportunity to compete in both races in 2025.
The Devonport Racing Club will again host 16 meetings on the Tapeta surface at Spreyton with their marquee event, the $125,000 Devonport Cup being run on Wednesday, January 8.
