The Derwent Valley harness racing community is in mourning following the sudden passing of local icon Thomas Jackson, aged 85, on Monday.
Tommy, as he was known, was a former trainer and committee member of the New Norfolk Pacing Club.
He had many nice horses, including, in more recent times, Impressive Chimes, whose feature race record included the 2007 Ulverstone Cup, 2005 Harry Holgate Memorial and 2004 Eric Reece Memorial.
Finn Mac Kee was another horse he prepared to feature race success, including wins in the 2020 New Norfolk Cup, 2019 Sheffield Cup and 2016 Eric Reece Memorial.
A funeral service will be held at Graham Family Funeral Home, Cnr Risdon and Bay Roads, New Town, on Monday (19th August 2024) at 10.00 am.
