The Programming Sub Committee at its meeting in June reviewed the Minimum Nominations policy and on the recommendation of the Sub Committee the policy has been amended with the addition of the following clause:
2.7 If there is a Mixed 1/2 or Grade 2 race with less than 8 starters plus 2 reserves and, after the allocation of races detailed in clause 2.5 has been implemented, there are Grade 3 greyhounds not listed as starters, then the Mixed 1/2 or Grade 2 race will be amended to an Invitation race or a Mixed 2/3 race, as the case may be, and those Grade 3 greyhounds will be considered for selection in the race or as a reserve for the race.
This provision will then enable Grade 3 greyhounds to be included in races which have less than a capacity field.
Tasracing has also adopted the recommendation that under Clause 2.5, the order in which short sprint races will be scheduled will be included in the policy. The order will be Grade 6, Grade 5, Grade 4, Mixed 5/6, Mixed 4/5 and then Mixed 1/2, Mixed 2/3, Grade 3 or Invitation.
These amendments are effective from 1 July 2018. To view the amended policy – click here.
The Committee is also undertaking a review of extending Masters Races to include a Reverse Order of Grade and Reverse Order of Choice Free-to-All over the short sprint in the rotation. Participants are invited to submit any comments on the suggestion by Friday 13 July 2018.
Tasracing has determined that 11 races will continue to be scheduled if there are sufficient nominations through to end of September 2018. The funding for the new season will be implemented from 1 October 2018 and participants are invited to discuss with their GRG members any thoughts on the allocation of the funding for the new season.
The programming will continue to undergo review and development and participants are encouraged to provide written comments and/or suggestions for improvement to their Club or Tasracing to assist in this ongoing improvement process.
