An increase in Tasbred bonus races, announced today, will be a confidence boost ahead of the Tasmanian Magic Millions Sales next week.
I am pleased to announce that additional Tasbred bonus races will be available for connections of Tasbred horses during the remainder of this year and the 2021/22 financial year.
For this financial year, an additional 18 Tasbred races will be offered, taking the number to 90 races (72 advertised) for 2020/21.
For the 2021/22 season an additional 23 races will bring the yearly total to 95 Tasbred bonuses on offer in selected races for eligible two, three and four-year-old horses. When included with the two $50,000 Tasbred races, this will represent $2 million in Tasbred incentives on offer.
Our Government remains committed to supporting a stronger Tasmanian racing and breeding industry and we are providing additional bonus opportunities during the remainder of this year and the 2021/22 financial year.
“Due to conservative financial modelling, the scheme has accumulated additional funding mainly due to our risk around some bonus races not being realised. It is important that these accumulated funds are utilised to ensure that owners are generating maximum returns when their Tasbred horse wins” Tasbreeders Acting President David Whishaw said.
With recent increases to stakes, owners can collect up to $28,500 if their horse wins a Tasbred bonus race.
The Tasbred Thoroughbred Breeding Incentive scheme is a joint agreement between Tasbreeders, Tasracing and the Tasmanian Government, with the arrangement to be reviewed for the 2022/23 financial year.
The Tasmanian Magic Millions Sales will take place at Quercus Park Carrick (Agfest site) on Monday 22 February and with 103 Tasbred eligible horses catalogued at this year’s sale, there’s never been a better time to purchase a locally bred racehorse.
