2023/24 Tasmanian Horse of the Year and Hall of Fame Inductions

Tasmanian thoroughbred racing’s night of nights, the 2023/2024 Tasmanian Horse of the Year and Hall of Fame Inductions, will be held on Saturday 5 October at Wrest Point Casino in Hobart. In what was one of the most competitive and exciting racing seasons in recent times, the night is a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge those that thrived, as well as celebrating the hard work, passion and commitment of all racing industry participants during the season.

Longford trainer John Blacker secured his fourth Leading Tasmanian award, an accolade he last won in 2008. Popular fly-in jockey Anthony Darmanin secured his first Leading Tasmanian jockey award since he became a regular visitor to the island in 2011. Irish-born apprentice Erica Byrne-Burke took out the Leading Tasmanian Apprentice award to cap a successful season.

Geegees Mistruth, Ms Tasmania and Zoete’s Rock

The 3yo Horse of the Year Award nominees are:
D’oro Star, Island Warrior and Thespian Waters

The Ladbrokes Horse of the Year Award nominees are:
First Accused, Geegees Mistruth and Indispensable

In 2024 four new inductees will take their place in the prestigious Tasmanian Racing Hall of Fame, including a previous inductee being upgraded to Legend status. This person takes their place alongside the likes of Charlie Goggin, Bev Buckingham, Max Baker and Len Dixon.
