Tasracing Director Justin Crawford has resigned from the Board effective immediately.
Mr Crawford is the Chief Financial Officer for Maintenance Systems Solutions.
The new Racing Minister, Adam Brooks, is currently a shareholder of that company. The Minister has stated publicly that he is divesting himself of this and other business interests.
Nonetheless, Mr Crawford took the decision to resign to avoid any perception of conflict of interest.
Tasracing chairman Dean Cooper said Mr Crawford made a significant contribution to Board deliberations during a challenging period for the greyhound industry, both in Tasmania and nationally.
“The greyhound industry’s issues over the past 12 months have been much publicised,” he said.
“Justin took an active role in the dialogue around ensuring industry practices met community expectations and communicating this to industry participants.
“On behalf of the Board and Tasracing, I would like to thank him for his efforts.”
A new Director to represent the greyhound code will be appointed as soon as practical.
