Race Program Changes – Races Divided By Points

Tuesday 16 August 2016

Following consultation with the Office of Racing Integrity (ORI) and after considering feedback received from industry participants, Tasracing will add the following clause to all races divided by points:

When races are divided by points (high and lower points divisions), the Unfulfilled Engagements and Extended Races policies do not apply if the total number  of acceptors is equal to, or less than, the combined field limits.

The decision is effective immediately.

The outcome is points will be the deciding factor as to where horses are placed when races are divided by points. The addition of this clause will overcome the situation that occurred at Hobart on 7 August 2016 and Launceston on 14 August 2016 when horses with good recent form were included in a $3,000 race designed to cater for horses with relatively poor recent form.

The clause will be added to race conditions up to the LPC meeting on Sunday 16 October 2016. After that, the condition will be added under TASMANIAN PROGRAMS in each edition of the Harness Racer.

LPC 28 August – 2C0/2C1 Races

Two 2C0/2C1 races are programmed at Launceston on 28 August 2016. One is for colts and geldings and the other for fillies. These races may be combined if there are less than five acceptors for either race.
