Change to Chinatown Lad Series and Information on National Championships

Friday 2 June 2017

With the Nationals heats being conducted on the last Monday in July this year, as opposed to being held in August, the Chinatown Lad Series, scheduled to be conducted in heats and a final over 709 metres at Hobart on 20 and 27 July 2017, has been changed to a single race only, a Free-to-All on 20 July 2017.

This change will serve to provide a 10 day lead in time to the heats of the National Distance Series at Launceston on 31 July.

The State National Sprint and Distance Series will be held with heats at Launceston on 31 July with the State Finals on Monday 7 August 2017.   The National Grand Finals of both the Sprint and Distance series are to be held at Albion Park in Queensland on Friday 25 August 2017.

Nominations for the National Series are required to be lodged on the Conditions of Nomination Entry Form with the original document required to be lodged with the Office of Racing Integrity prior to the close of nominations at 12 Noon on Thursday 20 July 2017.

Racing Queensland has advised that Local Rule34A is a condition of nomination for this Series.

LR34A states:

(1)     When nominating a greyhound for a qualifying trial or Event, a trainer must submit a statutory declaration in the form prescribed by Racing Queensland, declaring that the trainer has not participated and will not participate in an act of animal cruelty or any other activities that would be unlawful (declaration of training propriety).

(2)     If a trainer fails to provide the declaration of training propriety without reasonable excuse:

(a)       The trainer must not nominate, or attempt to nominate, the greyhound for any qualifying trial or Event; and

(b)       The greyhound may be declared disqualified from the qualifying trial or Event.

Trainers are required to provide a Statutory Declaration to meet the requirements of the rule, the original of which must be lodged with the Office of Racing Integrity prior to the close of nominations for the series, i.e. prior to 12 Noon on Thursday 20 July 2017.

A Trainer who has already completed a declaration previously is not required to lodge another.

The greyhounds of any Trainer who is required but fails to lodge a declaration prior to the closing of nominations shall be declared ineligible for the series.

Trainers may obtain a copy of the Conditions of the National Series and a copy of the Statutory Declaration from the Club Offices, the Office of Racing Integrity or from Tasracing.
