The Programming Sub Committee at its meeting in November reviewed the Minimum Nominations policy in respect to the minimum number of nominations required for a Grade 1, a Grade 2 of a Free-to-All event.
Tasracing has approved the recommendation of the Sub Committee that the policy be amended and has also taken the opportunity to amend other clauses to provide clarity around their interpretation. The following clauses have been amended and read as follows:
2.1 Except as detailed in the Feature Events policy, no race, except for Mid Distance races, Distance races or Grade 1, Grade 2, Mixed Grades 1/2, Mixed Grades 2/3, Invitation or Free-to-All races, shall be scheduled to be conducted unless there are at least 8 eligible nominations.
2.2 No Mid Distance race, Distance race or Grade 1, Grade 2, Mixed Grades 1/2, Mixed Grades 2/3, Invitation or Free-to-All races shall be scheduled to be conducted unless there are at least 7 eligible nominations.
2.6 The programming of a Mixed Maiden/Grade 6 sprint race in clause 2.5 is subject to there being five or more eligible Grade 6 nominations. The race will be selected on the Order of Choice from those Grade 6 greyhounds nominated for a Grade 6 race and any Maiden greyhounds nominated for a Maiden event over the sprint distance (excluding any Maidens nominated “No Higher”).
2.7 If there is a Mixed 1/2 or Grade 2 race with less than 8 starters plus 2 reserves and, after the allocation of races detailed in clause 2.5 has been implemented, there are Grade 3 greyhounds not listed as starters, then the Mixed 1/2 or Grade 2 race will be amended to an Invitation race or a Mixed 2/3 race. At this point, those Grade 3 greyhounds not listed as starters will be considered for inclusion in the race or as a reserve for the race to fill any vacancies based on their order of choice. Please note that the original field selected will not be altered.
In addition, an anomaly in the Stakes Grid has been identified by the Programming Sub Committee and the stakes grid has been amended so that any Grade 1, Grade 2, Mixed 1/2, Mixed 2/3 or Invitation race is paid at the current level of stakes for a Grade 1/2, Invitation or Free-to-All.
These amendments are effective from 17 December 2018.
The programming will continue to undergo review and development and participants are encouraged to provide written comments and/or suggestions for improvement to their Club or Tasracing to assist in this ongoing review process.
