Greyhounds Australasia To Undertake Industry Study

Tuesday 2 July 2019

Recently, Greyhounds Australasia (GA) engaged leading consulting firm IER Pty. Ltd. to undertake a size and scope study of the greyhound racing industry in Australasia.  The objective is to establish the economic and social contribution that greyhound racing makes to our communities across Australia and New Zealand.

As some of you may know, IER has undertaken studies of this nature previously for various Australian state and territory jurisdictions across the three codes of racing.  This, however, will be the first time that a study of this type will enable our industry, as a whole, to understand and articulate its size and scope across the region.

In addition to developing important economic and social measures, the study will also enable individual states and territories to extract their own information.  Additionally, IER will provide the capability to identify impacts at state and federal electoral district level which will assist the industry in its advocacy of the industry to all levels of government.

If called upon, we ask that you assist IER in any way that you can to help ensure that this study is as robust as it can be.  If you have any questions about the study, please feel free to contact Scott Parker at GA at scott@galtd.org.au.
