2021 TASMANIAN GREYHOUND OF THE YEAR & ANNUAL AWARDS

Wynburn Sheean has been named the 2021 Tasmanian Greyhound of the Year.

Tasmania’s major greyhound award was announced at the Tasmanian Greyhound Annual Awards Launceston Cup Finalists Presentation Evening at the Ladbrokes Racing Centre Saturday night 29 January 2022.

The awards are hosted by the Launceston Greyhound Racing Club, in partnership with Tasracing.

Wynburn Sheean won nine races and had one placing in Tasmania before racing in Queensland where he had five starts for three wins.  Following the Brisbane Cup, he returned to Tasmania where he ran another placing.

His major win was the Group 2 Ladbrokes Launceston Cup, but he also won the prestigious Buckle Up Wes Rising Stars and the Reg & Aileen Ivory Memorial Classic, as well as a Heat of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup.

Wynburn Sheean is owned by the Wynburn Racing Syndicate (Tom Englund Manager) and is trained by Ben Englund at Wynyard.

Leading TrainerAnthony Bullock (210 winners).

Leading Owner – Robyn Johnson (69 winners).

Most Consistent Greyhound – Headwall (16 wins, eight seconds and three thirds from 39 starts) owned and trained by Michael Louth from Flowery Gully).

Leading Breeding Female – She’s All Class (Owned by David Crosswell from Bishopsbourne.  She’s All Class’ progeny won 48 races).

Leading Sire – Fernando Bale (Leased by Paul Westerveld in Victoria.  Fernando Bale’s progeny won 240 races in Tasmania).
