Progeny of classic winning dams stand out at Tasmanian sale

A feature of the 2022 Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sale, to be held at Carrick Park on Saturday, March 5, is the strong percentage of youngsters out of classic-winning or winner-producing dams.

Some of the classic-winning racemares represented in the catalogue are the Evicus, Belmont and Sales Classic winner Karalta Crown, Vouvray Beach (Tas. Sweepstakes and Blue Bonnet), the Golden Slipper and Mother of Pearl winner Step Up And Play, Angel Or Demon (Coastal Pacing Thousand and Matron), Lady Elaine (Sales Classic 3YO) and Iden Princess (Belmont).

Other smart racemares are the Menangle and Albion Park winner Shelbyville NZ 1:54.5 ($108,852), the Melton winner Belliciouslips (1:55.9), Itz Gemmas Delight, Just Like Elle (1:57.4) and the Victorian and NSW winner Ideal Distraction NZ.

The dams listed in the catalogue have left the feature race and metropolitan winners Watchmylips (Raider Stakes), Mays Place (Tas. Sweepstakes), Karalta Dazzler ($184,403), Rockandahardplace (Tas. Debutante), Streitkid 1:52.9 ($137,441) and Angel Or Demon (Coastal Pacing Thousand, Matron and Mother of Pearl) and the multiple Group placegetter Stepping Stones.

The grand-dams of the yearlings have produced a host of smart performers such as the multiple Group winner and Breeders Crown placegetter Pachacuti 1:51.7 ($396,546), the Evicus, Sweepstakes and Sales Classic victor Ima Miss Molly, Strezlecki Lady ($113,155), Idengood Time (Tas. Sweepstakes), the SA Southern Cross and Burnie Cup winner Hez The One, Nitro Blue (Breeders Plate), Bremusa (Mother of Pearl), the Belmont winners Gueneveres Madonna and Bouquet Of Roses, Be Good Jenna (Sales Classic) and the dual Trotters Oaks winner Our Dolly Would.

Yearlings are eligible for Tasbred, Vicbred, QBred and Breeders Crown.
