One of Tasmania’s oldest and most successful families dating back to the Hall of Fame mare Prancing Ruby will be represented by a filly at the 2022 Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sale on Saturday, March 5 at Carrick Park.

Prancing Ruby won 11 races at the old Hobart Showgrounds including the 1962 Tasmanian Pacing Championship and Hobart Metropolitan Cup and later left an indelible mark in the breeding barn.

She produced seven winners including the Tasmanian Pacing Championship winner Prancing Percy and My Surprise, who won the Danbury Park Cup twice, and was the ancestress of the Oaks winners Kanungra Koala, Roses Heart and Roses Sweetheart, Hearts Legend (Vic. Legends), Mister Sad Sack, Tamaki Pride and others.

Lot 13, a grand looking filly by the world champion racehorse and now leading percentage sire Warrawee Needy (1:46.8), is a direct descendant of Prancing Ruby.

She is out of the unraced Rollon Sweetheart, by Rock N Roll Heaven from Sweetheart’s Memory, by Armbro Operative from Roses From Heaven, by Perfect Art from Roses Sweetheart, by Ticket To Heaven from the Torado Hanover mare Roses Heart, a granddaughter of Prancing Ruby.

The filly is being offered by long-time Scottsdale breeders Garry and Merlyn Lethborg.
