DISTANCE RACES – MINIMUM FIELD SIZE TRIAL

Friday 17 June 2022

Following a recommendation from the Greyhound Reference Group, Tasracing and the Office of Racing Integrity have agreed to a policy change to the minimum field size for distance racing for a trial period of two months.

Currently the Minimum Nomination policy states that there must be a minimum of 6 eligible first preference nominations for a distance race to be conducted when programmed. On a trial basis the policy will be amended to a minimum of 4 eligible first preference nominations for a race to be conducted when programmed.

This trial is aimed at conditioning greyhounds for the upcoming National Distance Championship on Thursday 11 August.

The trial will start from the RL Foley Perpetual Stakes (Best 8 Grade 5 & 6) on Monday 27 June with nominations closing at 10.00am Tuesday 21 June.
