Sprint and Distance Stakes to Increase From 1 January 2024

Friday 22 December 2023

Following a review of the expenditure of the Code Funding Allocation against budget, Tasracing, after consultation with the Greyhound Reference Group, has determined that current unexpended funds will be distributed via an increase in stakes for graded sprint and distance races (approximately 250 races).

Stakes for graded races over the sprint and distance from 1 January 2024 (until the unexpended funds balance has been exhausted) will increase by $1000 per race.

Currently, stakes are allocated for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placegetters and this increase will result in all greyhounds earning stakes over the sprint and distance (click here for full details). When the unexpended funds have been distributed, stakes will revert to the pre-1 January 2024 levels.

The only feature race to increase will be The Clarkie Tyres Maiden Thousand Final, to be run on the 25th of January 2024, and will be allocated an additional $5,000 bringing the total stakes to $20,000. ($13,045-3785-1890-400-4×200).
