CLASSY Tasmanian Scooterwillrev is set to embark on another trip across Bass Strait.
Unbeaten from his two runs since returning from Victoria, Scooterwillrev will head back to the mainland for the balance of the Australasian Breeders’ Crown.
The Craig Hayes-trained gelding won his two-horse heat in effortless fashion in Hobart three weeks ago before scoring to the same venue for a soft victory last night.
Rapt with Scooterwillrev’s progress, Hayes has no doubt the son of Somebeachsomewhere can make his presence felt in the future.
“He had no luck when I took him over for the Vicbres, so hopefully things can go his way a little better this time,” Hayes said.
“All he needs is a descent draw and an even crack at them to show just how good he is.”
Driven by Hayes during his latest triumph, Scooterwillrev was too slick for his older rivals, scoring from Another Swinger and Sultan Fella in 1:56.8 over a mile.
The three-year-old boasts an impeccable 16 wins and a second from 17 home state starts.
“He has done a great job all season – just as he did last season,” Hayes said. “I gave him 10 days off after coming from home Victoria and then he only had to jog in his heat, so last night’s run will do him good.
“He’ll definitely benefit from the outing and be better again when we arrive in Victoria next week.”
