Tasracing, in conjunction Greyhounds Tasmania, were delighted to present Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) Hobart with a cheque of $35,220 at the annual RMHC ball last Saturday night, 8 July.
The contribution to RMHC was largely due to the fundraising efforts of the inaugural Ronald McDonald House race night held in Hobart on 29 June.
A gala dinner on the night hosted by Brent Costelloe, included guest speakers Todd Russell and Matthew Armstrong, followed by an auction & raffle with guests generously donating to the cause.
The feature race of the night was the Ronald McDonald House Cup, won by Rojo Diamond, and his trainer Robin Grubb also contributed $1,000 from the winning prize money.
RMHC Hobart Chairman Craig Brakey acknowledged the efforts of those involved with bringing the RMHC race night to fruition.
“It’s a fantastic achievement by the three greyhound racing clubs to come together and have the fundraiser for the house.
“The house in Collins Street always needs money and the great thing about all the racing clubs coming together, is that the house services all of Tasmania,” Brakey said.
Over 550 people were in attendance for the RMHC Ball, and it is expected that with the contribution from Tasracing and Greyhounds Tasmania, funds raised on the night will exceed $250,000.
