A new initiative to help clubs grow attendance

Friday 19 August 2016

Tasracing has launched a new online presence for all Tasmanian racing clubs – goracingtasmania.com.au – that will help clubs sell race day attendance and memberships.

Tasracing interim chief executive officer Mark Tarring said it was important that the state’s racing clubs were able to operate efficiently in the digital and social media world.

“The tri-code web portal will drive online traffic to all racing clubs,” he said.

“It will also eventually allow clubs to receive customer payments directly into their bank accounts in real-time.”

Mr Tarring said Tasracing would use social media and other digital promotion activity to create and drive awareness about the new website.

“Our plan is to then work closely with the clubs to help them increase their own capability in this important area over time,” he said.

Mr Tarring said it was hoped that the development of goracingtasmania.com.au, and the associated advertising and promotional activity, would result in increased levels of awareness and interest in racing among the general public.

“Racing clubs have advised us through recent consultations that they wanted help to promote on-course attendance and membership,” he said.

“We listened to the feedback and have acted.  This is an important step to achieve this outcome.

“Tasracing sees the racing clubs in Tasmania as important partners in the delivery of racing in the state and is committed to working with them to help grow and enhance their businesses.”
