Tuesday 1 August 2023

The final field for Saturday night’s Beautide in Hobart has been announced.

The winner of the $80,000 race will secure Tasracing’s slot in the world’s richest harness race, the $2.1 Million TAB Eureka, at Sydney’s Menangle Park on 2 September.

The final field was selected from the 16 nominations received by the Tasracing Eureka Selection Panel, comprising the Director of Racing, Chairman of Stewards and Office of Racing Integrity staff, Tasracing CEO and Tasracing staff.

In alphabetical order those selected are:

Baby You A Song
De Goey
Joe The Bookie
Karalta Artemis

If the winner of the Beautide cannot participate in the TAB Eureka before 25 August, then the next highest-placed horse from the Beautide will be offered to fill Tasracing’s slot.

The Beautide is named after the state’s best pacer in the modern era, who won the sport’s pinnacle race, the Inter Dominion, in 2014 and again in 2015, and more than $2.1 Million in stake earnings across his 49 career wins.

The Tasmanian Trotting Club has many attractions on track for the Beautide race meeting, including live music, guest speakers, and Tasmanian TV cooking personality Ben Milbourne, who will be making “The Beautide Burger”.

Dining packages are limited and can be made by phone with the Tasmanian Trotting Club at (03) 62 144 260 or by email

The first race on Saturday is currently scheduled for 18:19, and fields for the remaining races will be released on Tuesday afternoon.
