Tasracing in consultation with the Greyhound Reference Group is pleased to announce that from 1 October 2023 the Code Funding Allocation for 2023/24 will be implemented resulting in the following for the industry.
- Implementing a North (including North West) vs South race series. Each region will run 10 individual graded events with the Finals to be run on rotation between Launceston and Hobart. The finals will have an additional $2,000 on top of normal stake money.
- A Short Sprint Feature race series. This would see both Launceston and Hobart have a Short Sprint Feature Series. The finals will carry $6,000 in prizemoney.
- A Masters Series. Nearly all feature races on the calendar are for open class or restricted aged racers and there is a need to reward longevity in the sport to continue to remain viable with current breeding levels. With only a few feature master’s events on the national group calendar, we would be one of the first states to adopt this grade in a feature format. This will see a $10,000 Final conducted.
- Feature Races – The Illingworth Classic will have an additional $4,600 added making total prizemoney $25,045 for the Final. The Tasmanian National Sprint Final and National Distance will be increased by $2,000 each.
Base stakes will remain at present levels, representing a forecast increase across combined Codes of 21.6% (12.1% above CPI) FY22 – FY24.
