Many of Tasmania’s most successful breeders have thrown their weight behind the 2021 Tasmanian Harness Yearling Sale, to be held at Carrick on Saturday, February 13.
Bagdad breeder Elliott Booth, whose horses carry the ‘Iden’ moniker, has nominated three youngsters for the sale including two by the former NZ 3YO of the Year Lincoln Royal, one a colt, Iden Sir Frankie (Lot 6), who is out of the Belmont winner Iden Princess, and the other a filly, Iden Lady Lincoln (Lot 9), a daughter of the handy racemare Just Like Elle (1:57.4).
The third of the Booth draft is Iden Beejay (Lot 7), a Stonebridge Regal half-brother to four winners including the Dandy Patch placegetter Iden Mister Ed, being out of the Tasmanian Oaks and Evicus placegetter Iden Countess.
Pyengana Dairy farmers Michael and Carol LeFevre a dually represented at the sale with a gelding from the first crop of the USA 3YO of the Year Downbytheseaside out of a Falcon Seelster mare as Lot 3 and a Sweet Lou half-sister to the Sales Classic winner Lady Elaine as Lot 12.
Melissa Maine, of Faithful Park Stud, Latrobe, has two entries in the sale, while her mother, Susan Maine, has a single entry. Melissa is offering a Sweet Lou filly out of a Rocknroll Hanover half-sister to the dual Inter Dominion champion Beautide as Lot 5 and a gelding by the emerging sire Hes Watching from the Bandbox and Blue Bonnet placegetter Its Gemmas Delight (10 wins) as Lot 8.
Susan Maine’s nomination is a filly by the Little Brown Jug winner Betting Line from the Granny Smith winner Tisu Holly, the dam of Tisu Spirit (1:58.3), whose 11 successes include a heat of the Breeders Crown. She is Lot 13.
Betting Line, the USA 3YO Colt of the Year, also figures as the sire of two lovely colts being offered by Westbury breeder Scott Richards. The first is Lot 4, a colt out of a half-sister to Chip And Gale, Bar Ron Boy and Latteron and the second is Lot 10, a colt from the family of the Hobart Metropolitan Cup winner Daman.
Leigh Dornauf, the president of the Carrick Park Pacing Club, and his wife Leanne have nominated a brother to the Blue Bonnet and Belmont winner Written In Silk, being by Sportswriter from the smart Village Jasper mare Mon Soie (1:58.6), a Belmont winner herself. He is Lot 11.
Sisters Beach breeder Patrick O’Boyle’s nomination is Lot 2, a brown colt by A Rocknroll Dance from an Art Major mare, Artful Lombo, a half-sister to the dual Albion Park winner Lombo Heaven (1:54.5) and a close relative of the mighty Lombo Pocket Watch.
