Inter Dominion

  • The Inter Dominion is the premier Australasian harness race each season.
  • Beautide is the only Tasmanian pacer to win two Inter Dominion grand finals – 2014 and 2015.
  • Six other Tasmanian horses have won the Inter Dominion since its inception in 1936 – Logan Derby (1936), Springfield Globe (1939), Bandbox (1947), Chamfers Star (1966), Stanley Rio (1977) and Thorate (1990).
  • Blacks A Fake is the only horse to win four Inter Dominion finals – 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010.
  • Our Sir Vancelot (1997, 1998 and 1999), Blacks A Fake (2006, 2007 and 2008), Imthemightyquinn (2011, 2012 and 2013) are the only horses to win three consecutive finals.
  • Captain Sandy (1950 and 1953), Hondo Grattan (1973 and 1974), Gammalite (1983 and 1984), Our Sir Vancelot (1997, 1998 and 1999), Blacks A Fake (2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010), Imthemightyquinn (2011, 2012 and 2013) and Beautide (2014 and 2015) are the only multiple winners of Inter Dominion grand finals.
  • Im Themightyquinn and Blacks A Fake were both 9YO’s when they won their last Inter Dominion. Beautide is a 7YO.
  • Beautide established a world record mile rate of 1:55.5 for 3009 metres when he won the 2014 Inter Dominion. He rated 1:55.8 when he won the Inter Dominion in 2015.

 

Miracle Mile

  • The Miracle Mile is Australasia’s leading sprint race. It commenced in 1967.
  • The only Tasmanian winners are Halwes (1968) and Beautide (2013). Beautide also finished second in 2014.

 

Comparisons

  • Beautide has won $2,005,212, slightly more than Flashing Red ($2,000,502). Beautide is Tasbred. Flashing Red is Vicbred and was purchased from Victoria as a yearling. Both raced in Tasmania until late in their five year old season. Flashing Red went on to win two New Zealand Cups and an Auckland Cup and was 10YO when he was retired.
  • The top ten all-time prize money winners for Tasmanian harness racing are Beautide ($2,005,212), Flashing Red ($2,000,502), Thorate ($1,329,345), Sinbad Bay ($674,963), Villagem ($622,955), Chip And Gale ($563,343), Lourdes ($394,614), Jane Ellen ($374,993), Fleet Express ($347,233) and Deanna Troy ($347,109).

Future Racing

  • Beautide is likely to race in the $100,000 Len Smith Mile on April 26 2015. After that his next target may be the Winter Carnival in Queensland followed by the Inter Dominion in Perth commencing on 27 November 2015 with the $1.3M final on Friday 11 December 2015.
