The conditions of The Showdown, listed as a Best 8 race by invitation to be conducted by the Launceston Greyhound Racing Club on 3 February 2020 as a lead-in to the heats of the Group 2 Ladbrokes Launceston Cup heats on 10 February, have been amended.
The race will now be conducted as an open Best 8 race and carry a stake of $3,230 ($2,205 to the winner) with trainers being required to nominate for the race by the usual time for the close of nominations for the meeting (Tuesday 28 January 2020).
The restrictions on the race that the greyhound must have raced at Launceston after 1 September and be continually domiciled in Tasmania since 1 September have also been removed.

The LGRC committee will review their options to reschedule the race as an invitational Best 8, but in a different time slot, in next year’s calendar.
