Lures and Drag Lures at Trials

Tuesday 14 April 2015

Tasracing has issued the directive that Trainers are not permitted to provide their own material to attach to the lure arm and are not permitted to interfere with the material provided by the club in any way (eg scent the material).

For the purpose of total clarity and to avoid any confusion whatsoever – the ONLY skin permitted on the lure arm is a tanned sheep skin which has been provided by Tasracing.  Alternatively, if the club conducting the trials does not wish to use this sheep skin, then the only material which can be attached to the lure is a synthetic material provided by the Club.

In respect to the drag lure at straight tracks, again the only material permitted to be attached to the drag is a sheep skin provided by Tasracing or other item approved by Tasracing or a synthetic material provided by the Club.

Each Club shall provide a drag lure (used to drag pups into the catching pen) which shall be made from the sheep skin provided by Tasracing or a synthetic material provided by the Club.  This lure may be enhanced with the inclusion of a squeaker or rattle at the entire discretion of the club.

No lure of any type other than that provided by the Club is permitted to be used on any race or trial track in Tasmania.
